I love gaming – although my telly is broken right now, that sucks. I think all the rage is about newer games and games to come. I agree with it all, but what really bothers me about the new games, is the music. The soundtracks are not what they used to be – oh that sounds like I’m bloody old, doesn’t it? I’m well aware that I might see in another view, but it’s so nostalgic and I just want to share the games that really had awesome soundtracks in my humble opinion.

GTA San Andreas
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. Violent AF. Used a lot of cheat codes. Maybe you were the person that did all the missions and stopped in front of all the traffic lights, fair play. But whether you were a mass murderer on are model citizen, one thing remained awesome: the music. Oh-my-word. It was the first time I heard a N.W.A. song and I think my mum still hates hearing it over and over again.

Song of the game: N.W.A. – Fuck tha Police

FIFA 2006
Well if you don’t like football, why are you even reading my blogposts? But in all seriousness, before football became the shit business it’s now, the games trying to imitate it, were better too. Now it’s all focused on the graphics, which is great by the way. But it’s just not the same as having a bloody good soundtrack to go with. As soon as I put the soundtrack on, I’m remembering good times with proper ballers mate. Del Pierro. Topbins. Legend.

Song of the game: Teddybears Sthlm ft. Mad Cobra – Cobrastyle

Okay, this was the beginning of the end of the FIFA games for me. They started to focus on ridiculous things (and please don’t say that I should play PES instead mates).  But it was as if they wanted to end with a bang. The FIFA soundtracks till that point on were very different really. They were very varied, across countries and cultures. It really hit home, football is global and so should the soundtracks be too.

Song of the game: Morning Runner – Gone Up In Flames

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2
This was a game people, perhaps my favourite game when I was a child. Every time I hear the intro from Rage Against the Machine’s Guerrilla Radio, I think of the skateboards, Collect S-K-A-T-E and wall grinds. I also do this stupid thing as if I’m a drummer, which I’m clearly not. The whole soundtrack gives me goose bumps. It’s not exactly the music I would listen to now, but listening to them separately is awesome!

Song of the game: Dub Pistols – Cyclone

We'd love to know...

Did you use to game when you were younger?
What were your favourite games and soundtracks?
