I have a confession to make, growing up I was the ultimate tom boy.
I basically lived in track pants and football was a huge passion of mine. It was not until I grew in to my twenties I began to embrace my girly side and while I am now a girly girl I decided to pay a visit the SECC's Girls Day Out Show 2016 for a crash course in the ultimate Girls Day Out and here is what I learnt.

What is your favourite way to spend a day out with the girls?

1. There needs to be food

From Dirty Pizzas to delicious cupcakes, there needs to be food. There is something about eating junk food with friends which makes it even more delicious.
Personally, I am a pizza girl but who turns down some delicious desserts?

2. All the Glitter

While at the Girls Day Out Glitter was definitely a theme. I am not talking costume glitter, I mean full one adult glitter. Glitter on the lips, glitter on the eyes, it sounds very child like but do not knock it until you try it, there is something special about having glitter lips.

3. Shopping!

Of course a Girls Day out includes some form of shopping, especially during this time of year where the hunt for great party pieces is on. The girls day out show had a wonderful showcase of brands where you could browse a range of dresses for the party season.

4. Pampering

One of my favourite things to do when I need to take time to zone out is going to the salon and getting my hair. I literally just sit there and zone out while the hairdresser works their magic. I have to say I have met some lovely people at the salon. You can make it a girl friend activity and have some appointments scheduled with friends so you can catch up over some drinks while getting your hair and nails done.

5. Have a sing and dance

I feel like a girls day out is never complete without a little sing song and a small dance, especially this time of year when there are so many lovely christmas songs playing on TV, in the shops, at parties and restaurants. Singing and dancing instantly lifts any mood and makes the perfect addition to a fun girls day out.

If you are planning a Girls Day Out either to get some christmas shopping done or to just spend some time with friends you have not seen in a long time, including these five elements will mean your Girls Day Out will be one to remember.

We'd love to know...
What makes the ultimate girls day out for you and your friends?
