There is something special about a book that instantly captures your heart and that is exactly what happened from the moment I opened Finding Audrey by Sophie Kinsella.

I first discovered this book through the Zoella Book Club. There was something about the storyline which had me hooked and made me pick it up.

Finding Audrey is the story of Audrey and her family. Without giving too much away, through a series of unfortunately events Audrey develops severe social anxiety which prevents her from leaving her house. Throughout the book we find out the extent of Audrey's anxiety and how it has impacted the relationships in her life.

The story takes us through Audrey's early recovery. It shows you the process she goes through while trying to reclaim her life. We see her finding love for the first time, tackling her fears one fear at a time. It is the small moments in the book which make the story and you truly root for Audrey and will her to work through some of her anxieties in order for her to go things such as go to school and meet up with her best friend.

I read this book on a train journey to London and was completely captivated by it. I cried, I laughed and completely fell for all the characters in the book. Kinsella did a great job in developing the characters in a way that is relatable, that resonates with the reader.

Sophie Kinsella does a wonderful job in talking about Anxiety and captures its impact in a very realistic way. It not only looks at Audrey but also how mental health affects her family. As someone who suffers from Anxiety, there is a tendency to feel like you are alone and this book demonstrates you are not alone, there are people around you who love you and are willing to help you. This is one of the biggest messages from the book and Kinsella does a great job in capturing this.

The underlying theme of the book is to understand mental health. Anxiety is an invisible illness which makes it hard for those who do not suffer from it to understand how it can effect people. Finding Audrey is one book that does this beautifully and regardless of if you suffer from Anxiety for know someone who does, this is one of the books which shows the illness in it's true form. There is no glorification, or heightened reality just social anxiety in it's truest form.
